The Brief

Each year The Kraken offers up something special to its legion and each year we are delighted to tell a fresh and exciting story. 2024 saw the arrival of a limited edition flavour: The Kraken Dark Caramel and Cornish Sea Salt. Proximo Spirits briefed us to dream up a narrative for this new bottle, one which ties into and expands on the lore we’ve been establishing over numerous years, events, launches and activations. We then had to bring this tale to life with a compelling launch film.

The Big Idea

For  the launch of the The Kraken Dark Caramel & Sea Salt, we created a tale of two smugglers headed to the Cornish Coast making what would prove to be their final voyage into the local caves. Their mission: to hide away the spiced rum and dark caramel they had carried across treacherous waters. But they were unaware that The Kraken itself has developed quite the appetite for their precious cargo. The story of the smugglers and how they met their fate was shot over three days and nights. Having scouted the perfect sequence of caves on a beach outside Porthmadog, the vision was brought to life.

Our approach combined practical filming and effects which were then enhanced by CGI to produce once again a truly epic launch film for Krakens Limited edition series. The content was launched and boosted through social media to coincide with the unleashing of the new bottle.
