Warner’s Nature Marque

The Brief

Warner’s Distillery is the UK’s largest independent craft gin distillery. Based on Falls Farm in Northamptonshire, Warner’s believe that real tastes better and differentiates itself by creating real flavours with real, farm-grown ingredients. Founded in 2012, it has a vision to become the most nature positive drinks business in the world. Our job was to help them in that mission.

The Big Idea

Our big idea was 'Warner's Nature Marque': a first-of-its-kind accreditation awarded to pubs that have taken steps to make their outdoor spaces welcoming for nature as well as people. This could include planting wildflowers and pollen-rich flowers, installing bird boxes and bug hotels, building hedgehog highways and other measures that could help wildlife thrive in a pub garden. With the support of Wildlife Trust BCN, Warner's has an ambition to help transform 500 acres of pub gardens into fully accredited nature-positive spaces by 2025.

To launch Nature Marque with a bang in PR and on social media we employed the services of Doug Allen, one of the world's greatest nature cameraman, famed for his work on Planet Earth, to film the first wildlife documentary in a pub garden.

The Results

The first wildlife documentary filmed in a pub really struck a chord with the press, achieving blanket coverage across national and regional media, including Independent, Indy100, Evening Standard, The Times and Telegraph. It's given Warner's a national platform on which to announce Nature Marque and drive forward the ambition to transform the nation's pub gardens into places that are good for people, pubs and the planet.
