Summer means one thing, wedding season is very much in full swing. While brides and grooms might be happy to throw cash around like confetti, guests struggle to keep up.
SpareRoom commissioned research to find out exactly how much Brits spend at their friends’ weddings and what the repercussions were. The research revealed one in five (21%) renters are falling into debt from attending friends’ weddings. And it’s not just money being lost, but friendships too, with a third (32%) turning down wedding invitations and one in five (21%) falling out with friends due to the stress of spending money on attending their weddings.
Coupling the research with some friendly case studies and releasing it during peak wedding season saw Cow secure 49 pieces of coverage: including six nationals counting the Metro, The Guardian and The Times, as well as Harper’s Bazaar, Grazia, Elle, Pretty 52, BBC 5 Live, Talk Radio and Evening Standard.
