The spooky happenings in October came early this year as The Kraken unleashed ‘Screamfest’: the most terrifying movie experience of all time.
On Friday the 13th October, The Rio Cinema in Dalston, London and The Everyman Cinema in Leeds opened its doors to over 450 people for a night of horror, clowns, black pick and mix and scarily good cocktails, including The Frozen Bride of Krakenstein.
The featured film shown was the chilling classic The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, as voted for by Kraken fans on Facebook and Twitter. With the help of UK horror film expert make up artists, Kate Griffiths, audience members were greeted and surrounded by horrifying clowns throughout the evening and guests were able to then have a horror make over of their own in the Kraken Horror Parlour.
The night saw media including Time Out and Design My Night attend, as well as influencers Lusy Logan and Jord Liddell. And with coverage appearing on Evening Standard, Time Out, The Londonist, Campaign and Drinks Enthusiast, the campaign was a great success all round.
To ensure our frightening news spread, Screamfest was promoted across the Kraken Rum social channels using the campaign hashtag #ISCREAMFORKRAKEN. The online campaign content reached over 3.2m people, received 34k engagements and the hashtag being used over 700 times.
An online giveaway was also held across all social channels which received over 1000 entries.
