Research we commissioned for our client MORE TH>N Insurance found that us Brits are guilty of pouring 18 million litres of cooking fat down our kitchen drains each year (enough to fill seven Olympic-sized swimming pools!), in spite of the range of potential problems this can pose to our homes, including blocked drains and flooding.
To help raise awareness around the issue, we worked with the UK’s foremost micro-sculptor, Hedley Wiggan, to produce miniature recreations of the nation’s most iconic landmarks, made entirely from cooking fats. Hedley’s butter-ly brilliant sculptures included Big Ben, Buckingham Palace, Angel of the North and Brighton Pavilion, among others – all landmarks based in some of the UK’s worst offending regions for careless fat disposal.
The story would prove to be a major hit with press, with coverage subsequently landing in Daily Mirror, Daily Star, Daily Express, The Sun, House Beautiful, and a bucket-load of regional titles too, making for a truly fat-tastic campaign.
