Skateboard-themed candy brand Mega Mouth® wanted us to give kids something spectacular a couple of summers back. So we did just that by creating the UK’s largest skateboard.
Measuring a staggering seven metres in length, two and half metres in width and at a metre high, the oversized board weighed as much as a baby African elephant.
We launched a month-long, nationwide search via schools, and through www.megamouth.com, to find a talented young artist to design the underside of the skateboard’s deck.
Of the thousands of entries submitted, only one could crowned the winner – and that accolade went to 10-year-old Kate Emsley from Worcester, who was subsequently pictured next to her design with British under-14 skateboard champ Matty Carlisle.
Pictures of the board appeared in The Evening Standard, Mirror Online, The Independent and picture of the day at Telegraph.co.uk – not to mention a cracking full page in the brand’s dream title, First News.
After catching some air in the media, the Megamouth skateboard was exhibited at Rampworx, the UK’s largest indoor skate park, in Liverpool.
