To celebrate the Diamond Jubilee and highlight the connection between royalty and flowers, we got our client the Flower Council of Holland bred and baptised a luxurious red lily in the Queen’s honour. Christened the Jubi-lily, the limited edition flower was delivered directly from Holland to the studios of top London florists McQueen’s who created the stunning ‘living portrait’ of the Queen you see above.
Made from over 6,000 lily petals from 7 varieties, including the newly baptised Jubi-lily, the striking image measured 2x3m and took eight florists over 14 hours to create. The coverage is still rolling in, but so far, pieces have blossomed on the The Sun print and online, Daily Mail, Mirror Online’s front page, Reuters, Evening Standard, MSN and Yahoo! – with national TV broadcast pieces booked in for the Jubilee bank holiday weekend.
