Cow brews up a storm with the formula for the perfect cup of tea
We love a good brew here in the Cow office, so we jumped at the chance of creating a tea report, on behalf of our client Cravendale.
Working alongside the University of Northumbria, we delved into us Brits’ deepest and darkest tea habits – revealing the nation’s tea drinking rituals and the science behind the perfect cuppa.
Over 285 cups of tea were drank and over 180 hours were spent to explain why we drink 60.2 billion cups of the stuff every year. What did we find? It tastes of toffee, it’s best drunk after six minutes and 90% of us think tea-making should be on the National Curriculum. We agree, a much more interesting subject than Maths or Science.
We thought we’d share the perfect formula as well, so you can recreate yourself.
TB + (H2O @100°c) 2minsBT + C(10ml) 6minsBT = PC (@ OT60°c)
TB = teabag
BT = brewing time
C = Cravendale milk
PC = perfect cuppa
OT = optimum temperature
This all resulted in some tea-riffic (sorry…) coverage with nearly half a page secured in the Daily Express, page three in the Daily Mail, a right hand page column in the Metro, Telegraph Online, Mail Online, Daily Express, half a page in the Yorkshire Evening Post and online and the Nicky Campbell show on BBC Radio Live even put our formula to the test live on air. All in all it’s been thirsty work, so time to put the kettle on…
