Blind Pig & The Glitter Beats mixing up a storm

A passer by gets hands on with a new free pop-up in London's Portobello Road which is offering anyone who fancies a go the chance to try out DJ-ing on professional quality decks and free one-on-one lessons. The decks have been set up by Blind Pig Cider, inviting people to rethink the unwritten rules that stop us exploring and enjoying the world around us, this time using the example of DJ-ing; arguably one of the most exclusive musical instruments on hand.

One of the first rules of DJing – don’t go near the decks. But spirit flavoured cider Blind Pig is blind to the rules and it wants you to be too. So this week, we cast off all notion of social stereotyping and set up a public DJ deck in the heart of London. One-on-one lessons were on offer for those who wanted them, courtesy of female DJ duo The Glitter Beats, and anyone who fancied a go was encouraged to give the turntables a spin. same-day coverage on The Evening Standard and Time Out ensured the music didn’t stop. The decks are now heading out on tour – look out Bristol and Leeds!
